Hi, I'm Steve.
I've spent the better part of 25 years in digital strategy, product, and technology leadership — mostly in media and digital publishing. I help teams shape strategy early, align around clear business requirements, and navigate complex publishing ecosystems without getting lost in the tooling or the politics.
What Signal & Tactic is
Signal & Tactic is my own vehicle for selective, independent advisory work and passion projects. It grew out of wanting more balance in my life: room to take on a smaller set of direct engagements, explore ideas, and stay honest about what I can take on — alongside the bulk of my practice, which runs through Fueled today.
I'm not trying to build an agency or scale a team. I keep this practice intentionally small, hands-on, and focused on work where I can be genuinely useful.
The kind of work I do
Most of my work sits at the intersection of strategy and execution: discovery and roadmap definition, business requirements and early-stage product direction, and strategic facilitation with cross-functional teams. I also advise on CMS, audience data, analytics, and monetization decisions when publishing platforms are in scope. Whether the path is through Fueled or someone reaches me here, I tend to work best with teams that know they need to evolve but don’t yet have a clear starting point—and are looking for a partner to bring structure, clarity, and forward momentum.
What else I'm up to
Right now, I'm also spending time on a few passion projects outside of consulting. Signal & Tactic gives me the room to do that — to stay curious, build things I care about, and keep learning. That balance is the whole point.
I'm also a proud dad to a 13-year-old and a 17-year-old, and a husband who is deeply involved in and grateful for family life.
